Sami is a popular beach resort which also acts as an important arrival port from mainland Greece.
Looking from above, the bay is split into two settlements: Sami is to the right and Karavomylos to the left. Both have plenty of accommodation, although most is in private apartments, villas and rooms.
Those looking to expand their Sami search to include private rooms and apartments should use the search form to the right to get an idea of what accommodation is available and to compare prices during the period desired.
Daily ferries operated by Ionian Pelagos arrive at and depart from Sami for the mainland (Astakos). There are also daily services to neighbouring Ithaca (Pisaetos).

Strintzis Ferries operate a regular daily service between Sami
and Patras on the mainland. The same service can also be used to access Vathi on Ithaca.

South along the coast is the town of Poros, another port town. Ferries leave from here to Kylini on the mainland on a regular basis.

In high season there is usually a non-daily service between Sami and Bari in the south of Italy.
The hour's bus ride to Argostoli is offered a few times daily in the summer months. Also in the summer there are services to Fiskardo in the north of the island, which pass through Agia Efimia and the junction for the road to Assos. The bus stop is located on the promenade near the harbour.

If you are travelling from Skala/Poros direction, do not forget to make a stop at the Olive Garden in Aghios Nikolaos at the hairpin bend (parking opposite). A small makeshift hut may not look appealing at first but the garden in front is very pretty and relaxing. Eleni and Vagelis will make you feel most welcome and their lemon meringue and apple pies are delicious.
