Sami is a bustling port town of around 1,000 inhabitants located on the eastern coast of Kefalonia. It has ferry connections to the mainland and to Ithaca as well as irregular connections to the Italian port of Brindisi.
Sami is one of Kefalonia’s much loved resorts, popular with those who enjoy a low key holiday and an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding attractions.
It shot to fame as the main setting for the film 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin'. In fact, one of the harbour cafes Marina Acqua proudly displays photo albums from the time the film was made and will be pleased to regale you with stories of the actors during their time on the island.
Sami is a hidden gem and highly underrated as a resort - visit it for yourself and fall in love with it!
