Travel Information

Getting there

Kefalonia airport is a 15-minute drive to the south of Argostoli. There is a limited bus service in high season, but generally transport to the town is by taxi or hire car. A taxi should cost around €30 while car rentals can be picked up at the airport or booked in advance.

There are no ferries from Argostoli to other islands or the mainland.

Getting around

There are regular car ferries from Argostoli across the bay to Lixouri (which cuts out the long drive along the coast). These runs every 30 minutes at busy periods and hourly outside these times. The trip takes around half an hour.

The local bus company operates a frequent service over the hill to nearby Lassi with its pleasant beaches, as well as to a selection of towns and resorts around the island. Generally, there are two or three return services a day to the more popular destinations, such as Sami, Skala, Fiskardo or Poros. (Ferry connections to locations further away can be made from Sami.)
